Patient's Story (Role player’s brief)

Patient’s Story

You are Queen Roberts, a 35-year-old woman. For the past 4 months, you’ve been experiencing a rash that comes and goes. The rash is red, raised, and itchy, and typically appears around your neck and arms.

It usually settles within 1–2 days, but your most recent episode (two weeks ago), lasted for 5 days and only improved after you took cetirizine, which you bought over the counter from the chemist.

The rash is intermittent but can be quite uncomfortable, affecting your day-to-day comfort when it flares up. You’ve not noticed any other symptoms, no weight loss, fever, or changes in your general health.

You do not have a photo of the rash

Social History: You live with your husband and two children. You work in an office. You do not smoke or drink alcohol. You consider yourself generally fit and well.

If asked about other symptoms, say: “No.”

Ideas: You think it might be some kind of allergy, but you’re not sure what’s causing it.

Concerns: You’re worried that the rash might become more frequent or severe, and you’re unsure how it might affect your daily life if it continues like this.

Expectations: You’d like to understand what’s causing the rash and whether there’s something you can do or take, to stop it from coming back.

Say NO to any other questions asked outside of the details already provided in the scenario. Accept anything offered to you by the doctor.
